After completion of High School I worked on all facets of the pest control industry commencing 1969, in the family business, until becoming owner and general manager of the company Economic Preventative Services Pty. Ltd., in 1977.
Based in Sydney, I diversified the company into Industrial Bird Control, Weed Control and Ventilation / Waterproofing businesses until sale of the company in 1984. I worked with the new management as an expert consultant in general
pest control and fumigation.
I commenced a new business, Sentry Services as a unique pest control company, specialising in termites and waterproofing. Consulted to builders, architects, engineers, real estates and strata managers for diagnostic termite and
waterproofing services. During this period I produced many articles on dampness,
ventilation and termites for industry papers.
I joined membership of the Hadlington/Taylor Research Group, researching on various aspects of subterranean termite behaviour in N.S.W., from 1992 to 1996, as a prelude to the removal of Organo-Chlorine pesticides in 1995.
In that time I was volunteer termite consultant to Lane Cove Council (N.S.W.) on termite colony location and their treatment – 1990 to 1997. Our research team was engaged by the ‘Beyond 2000 Productions’ for a TV presentation
on Termite Colony Location and Treatment in Trees in 1993.
Established myself as an independent consultant to builders, other pest control companies and the general public, on termite infestations and introduced to the pest control industry the use of specialist moisture meter detectors
and ‘Remote Visual Inspection’ (RVI) endoscopy equipment.
My expertise and experience gained work as an expert witness in litigation on termites for the legal profession, insurances, builders and numerous pest control companies.
Began teaching on Termite Field Courses throughout N.S.W. and Qld., for Rapid Solutions Pty. Ltd., – 1993 to 1996. Teacher with Mr. T. Taylor for the A.E.P.M.A. Pest Management Association (Qld.,) throughout Queensland on several
Termite Colony Control Courses – 1995 to 1996.
Independent consultant to Dow AgroSciences, in developing a Termite Training Program for the pest control industry – 1995 to 1997. Sold Sentry Services to move interstate and settled on the Gold Coast in 1997.
Formed a partnership with P.M.T.A.S.; a training and assessment company to the pest industry 1998 to 2005. The partnership saw the introduction in Queensland to the pest control industry of National Competency Standards and wrote
the timber pests course curriculum for Qld., Open Learning institute of T.A.F.E.
Obtained Queensland T.A.F.E., Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace
Training (to the new competency standards) 1999 and was facilitator for Brisbane Institute of T.A.F.E. providing for face to face classes on Timber Pest Course
to National Competency Standards.
I was employed as technical development consultant for a new termite detection device; ‘Termidtector’ as an in-house monitor device to aid in the process of a termite inspection of concealed wall cavity voids for subterranean termite activity.
Wrote a National Accreditation Training Course to Unit PRMPM042, Install physical termite barriers, for installers of physical termite management measure/s and full termite barrier system/s to new building construction.
